Advanced PNT Technologies
The PNT Technologies Based Facility at IIT Tirupati Navavishkar I-Hub Foundation (IITTNiF) is a dedicated center for advancing Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) technologies with a special focus on India’s indigenous NavIC system and next-generation GNSS applications. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure including advanced RF test equipment, NavIC test bed, GNSS signal simulators, multi-constellation reference receivers, SDR and FPGA platforms, antenna measurement systems, timing and synchronization setups, and industry-grade development tools—enabling end-to-end research, testing, validation, and prototype development.
The facility undertakes advanced research and product development in GNSS/NavIC antennas, RF front-ends, receivers, secure navigation systems, anti-jamming and anti-spoofing technologies, timing applications, ionospheric studies, and integrated PNT solutions. The research activities support application domains such as autonomous systems, smart transportation, space technologies, defense navigation, telecom synchronization, and strategic national projects.
In addition, the facility conducts training, skilling, and capacity-building programs for students, researchers, startups, industry professionals, and academic institutions, providing hands-on exposure to GNSS, NavIC, SDR, FPGA, RF testing, and secure PNT technologies. Through strong collaborations with academia, industries, government organizations, and strategic sectors, along with its “Lab as a Service (LaaS)” model, the facility aims to accelerate indigenous technology development, strengthen India’s self-reliance in Positioning, Navigation, and Timing systems, and foster a vibrant PNT innovation ecosystem.
Our mission aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Atmanirbhar Bharat, contributing towards technological excellence, indigenous innovation, and global leadership in Positioning, Navigation, and Timing technologies.

About PNT
Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) technologies provide accurate location, navigation, velocity, and time synchronization information essential for modern technological systems and critical infrastructure. PNT systems play a vital role in enabling reliable positioning, precise timing, and secure navigation for a wide range of civilian, industrial, scientific, and strategic applications.
PNT services are primarily enabled through Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) such as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, and India’s indigenous NavIC system. These systems support real-time positioning and synchronization capabilities for applications including transportation, autonomous systems, telecommunications, power grids, defence systems, precision agriculture, disaster management, and scientific research.
Modern PNT technologies integrate advanced GNSS receivers, SDR platforms, FPGA-based processing systems, RF monitoring tools, and secure navigation techniques to enhance accuracy, reliability, integrity, and resilience. Research in PNT also includes areas such as anti-jamming, anti-spoofing, signal authentication, timing synchronization, and multi-constellation navigation systems.
The fundamental principle of PNT systems is based on receiving signals from multiple satellites and calculating precise position and timing information using advanced signal processing and trilateration techniques. These technologies are critical for enabling next-generation intelligent transportation, smart infrastructure, autonomous navigation, secure communication, and national strategic applications.
With continuous advancements in satellite navigation and secure timing technologies, PNT systems are becoming increasingly important in building resilient, accurate, and high-performance navigation ecosystems for the future.
